Who are some of the 1st’s in Computer Science?
Ada Lovelace 1842 - Considered one of the first computer programmers. Also, recognized
as being one of the firsts to see the potential of computing outside of calculations.
The Harvard Computers 1875 - Mostly consisting of women, the Harvard Observatory
needed help to process astronomical data. Among these women were Williamina Fleming,
Annie Jump Cannon, Henrietta Swan Leavitt, Florence Cushman and Antonia Maury.
Although these women started primarily as calculators (or human computers), they often
rose to contribute to the astronomical field, and even publish in their own names.

Grace Hopper 1945 - An American Computer Scientist and United States Navy rear admiral.
One of the first computer programmers to create independent programming languages like
COBOL. That led to the development of higher level programming languages such as Java!
She also popularized the term “debugging” based from pulling a moth out of one of her
computers! lol
