Happy Tuesday!

Good Morning! Today is National Pecan Pie Day!!!

The day started with the girls watching a very inspirational video about how coding should be taught universally, just like math or English, since it is essentially the language of the future. After the video was over, the girls went outside to play The Game of Concentration. They were divided into three groups and sent the last two girls to Sasha for the ultimate championship of Concentration. It was quite epic, and the girls looked like they were having fun.

When the girls came back in Analyssa got started on her presentation for AppInventor. When she finished going through the basics of the program, the girls got started on a scavenger hunt to get them better acquainted with it.

When the scavenger hunt was over, the girls jumped right in to  creating their first AppInventor project!! They got to create a fun mole mash game ----------------------------------------------->

After the mole mash session, the girls got into pairs and started working on Lego Mindstorms. It was great to see them so excited! They started out with a hand-crank car, and then moved on to their own projects.

After some delicious Chinese food, the girls came inside the classroom and watched a video inspiring them to learn code. They then dove straight into designing their projects. Each girl will be completing their own project in EV3, Snap!, Arduino, AppInventor, or HTML. All of them are using their creative freedoms to the fullest extent. Some of the ideas so far have been awesome EV3 animals, Snap! animations and games. After using all their creative juices we took them to the atrium to play concentration and Tori took some amazing photos when they had finished. The girls came back inside to learn Blender with Marissa. The lesson began with a cute video starring a llama and penguin that was all made in Blender. Then, they looked at a PowerPoint and keyboard shortcut to get the basics on Blender. They finished off their day making a game based off the Nokia  and arcade classic known as Snake.
