It is Wednesday, my dudes!!
Today we are celebrating wildlife and its connection to computer science!
Let’s go!

Did you know? Scientists estimate that there are around 8.7 million different species of
animals on Earth! This includes discovered and undiscovered species all over the planet.
There’s a good chance that you haven’t heard of some of the weirdest ones out there.
Check out some of these crazy animals!

1- Lyrebird:
Have you ever wanted to learn a bunch of languages? Well, lyrebirds can learn languages
like nobody’s business. An average lyrebird can mimic the languages of 20 different
bird species along with random human noises like chainsaws and car alarms!

2 – Japanese Spider Crab
Moving down into the ocean, we’ll meet the Japanese spider crab! This is the BIGGEST
crab in the world and it only lives in the waters around Japan! Check it out!

3 – Glass Frog:
The final animal on our wildlife safari brings us alongside rivers and streams that run
throughout some of the world’s densest jungles. It is a tiny creature called the glass frog,
and its entire body is clear! You can see all of the organs in its body, the eggs resting
in its body if its pregnant, and even the motions of its pumping heart!

Check out the video of its heart here! -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CsLLr0iiow

Now it’s time for some computer science that mixes with animals! Have you ever wanted
to know what an animal was thinking? Well, a computer scientist with a passion for horses
named Dr. Steve North just started a project to develop computer interaction software
that will identify horse behavior from videos and tell us humans what the horses are feeling.
It’s called HABIT (Horse Automated Behavior Identification Tool) and its one of the first
forays into ACI (Animal Computer Interaction).

Day 3:
Please describe what sparked your interest in computing and technology
AND HOW that interest has furthered your experience in computing and technology?
This is your time to shine - tell us what you have been doing and why?
Please describe a problem that you would like TO SOLVE using technology and
explain HOW you would solve it (this could be a social problem, a technical
problem, a local problem, a world problem, etc.).
Day 2:
Describe ANY leadership positions you have had in school and/or community.
Describe your Interest in Computing and Technology.
Describe your Career goals in detail. What do you want to accomplish?
Why is your career goal important to you?

Day 1:
Why you came to this camp? What you want to get out of it?
What have you already accomplished in computing and technology?
What might you do with computing and technology in the future?

Don't forget tomorrow is Tie Dye Thursday!
