It's Go Time!

This morning started off with an activity led by the camp assistants. It was their first time running the morning activity, and they were FABULOUS! The activity was to clap to a beat in a circle, choose a category, and then state object in that category alphabetically. Categories included names, animals, and food!

During the day students worked more on learning Live Code and HTML and then started planning and working on their own projects. After lunch, we spoke with former YWiC Undergraduate Research Assistant Nicole Ray! She was incredible and talked all about her experiences in C-STEM and her current position performing research for NMSU.

In the afternoon students chose the projects that they will be presenting to their parents tomorrow and then worked to complete their projects during Open Build time. Everyone is doing so well and we are so proud of them! We can't wait to see all of the finished projects tomorrow!

Blog Prompt: Imagine that the President has asked you to announce a new national holiday, and it can be anything you want. What new holiday would you create, and why would you create that day and not something else?

Noor-  I would create National Watch Netflix Day! Watch Netflix all day! I usually don't have time to watch any shows because of school and work. I would want a day to just binge watch Netflix!!!







SP (Robin for the day) - I would create National Super Hero Day or National Nerd Day. Either one would be awesome just because everyone would be required to dress up as a hero or a nerd. Just imagine the President dressed like Batman or like a super nerd!!! Too cool!




Jen - I would create National Do Something For Someone Else Day! The nice deeds wouldn't have to be complicated or extravagant, just something as simple as making someone a cup of tea or writing a "Have a nice day!" post-it note to a friend. An act of kindness can totally turn someone's day around, and I think we should all try to do something nice every day. :)




 At the end of each day of camp, we encourage our students to fill out a small survey so that we can better craft an amazing camp experience. The survey for today can be found here!
